Chrysal joins the Circular Plastics Alliance
We are very proud to announce we are now part of the Circular Plastics Alliance! Chrysal has been the driving force in the flower and plant industry for decades and is the worldwide market leader in flower food. Whether you grow, transport, sell or simply enjoy the beauty of flowers or plants at home, we have the best solutions to keep flowers and plants beautiful and fresh for longer. By continuously innovating, focusing strongly on quality and a continuous search for sustainable solutions, we strive for the best care for flowers and plants, satisfied consumers customers and, ultimately, a better more beautiful world.
Sustainability is important to Chrysal. “Sustainability is part of who we are and how we work. It is important to know our impact on the environment, to create a pleasant caring workplace for our employees and to add value to the sustainability ambitions of our customers.” The focus is on reducing waste and water use in every phase of the chain. Action is being taken on various fronts to contribute to the environment and we have set ambitious goals for the future, such as Chrysal's aim to be climate neutral by 2030 and 100% circular by 2040.
We have already achieved great results, we have full insight into the CO₂ footprint for both their own operation and the products, for the head office and the branch in Africa. In addition, we have introduced a complete line of sustainable sachets (paper, recyclable plastic and compostable foil), a bio-based formula, the bag-in-box for the Professional products (70% less plastic) and we are continuously looking for further improvements and innovations.
In addition, Chrysal has projects for material reduction and waste reduction, we work according to 'lean management' methods to be as efficient as possible, we have almost 900 solar panels on the roof of the head office in Naarden, we use green (wind) energy and are equipped with LED lighting.
Chrysal has built up knowledge in previous innovation projects that we are happy to share within the network of the Circular Plastics Alliance. Testing future concepts will also provide valuable experiences for the Alliance partners and on the other hand we want to use the knowledge of the network as input for future innovations. We strive to achieve the sustainability ambitions as described above, partly through this collaboration.
By joining the Circular Plastics Alliance, we can share knowledge within the network and identify opportunities for innovative solutions. With the experience Chrysal brings, we are an important and valuable addition to our Alliance.
